In the days ahead of the Independence Day holiday, Joe Biden disgorged yet another gaffe, this time proving that he does not know the difference between the U.S. Constitution and the Declaration of Independence.
During an interview with MSNBC’s biased, left-wing, softball-throwing Nicolle Wallace on June 29.
During this softball interview, Biden delivered what he claimed as a quote from the U.S. Constitution:
“Its value system is different, and its respect for our institutions is different,” Biden said blasting the Supreme Court for its ruling on affirmative action. “And in that sense, it’s not as embracing of all, what I think the con—the Constitution says, ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident. All men and women are created equal, endowed by their creator.’ It’s the uniqueness of America, we’ve never fully lived up to it, but never walked away from it. And this court seems to say, ‘No, that’s not always the case.’ The idea that there’s no right of privacy in the Constitution, giving states power that we fought a war over in 1960 [sic]. You know, I just think it’s — this is not your father’s Republican Party.”
Leaving aside that the Civil War was not in “1960” as Biden said, his quote is from the second paragraph of the Declaration of Independence, not the U.S. Constitution, which, of course, reads:
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.–That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, –That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.–Such has been the patient sufferance of these Colonies; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter their former Systems of Government. The history of the present King of Great Britain is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States. To prove this, let Facts be submitted to a candid world.
Imagine. The President of the United States does not know the difference between the U.S. Constitution and the Declaration of Independence.
Biden made it all weird at the end of the interview, too. At the end of the interview, Biden oddly just stood up and walked away. Usually someone who is being interviewed stays in their seat until the show goes to commercial.
